Dennis Smith, MPT, CHT
Dennis Smith PT, MPT, CHT earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Athletic Training from San Diego State University in 1993. He spent the following year working side by side with the team physician for the San Francisco 49ers in Palo Alto, CA. He then went on to earn his Master of Physical Therapy Degree from the University of California, San Francisco in 1996. Dennis joined an orthopedic based physical therapy practice in North County San Diego and developed his clinical skills working with a variety of Orthopedic Surgeons in the region, treating spine and extremity injuries. After four years of clinical practice, Dennis developed a passion for Hand Therapy. He spent two years training with one of the top Certified Hand Therapists in the San Diego Region, before passing the Certified Hand Therapy examination in 2002, acknowledging expertise in the field of Hand Therapy. As a Certified Hand Therapist, Dennis has successfully treated a vast number of upper extremity injuries from common to complex diagnoses (elbow/wrist/hand fractures, tendon repairs, tendon transfers, complex regional pain syndrome, crush injuries, joint replacement surgeries, joint reconstructions, fusions, amputations, and many more).
Dennis is a highly skilled and experienced Physical Therapist, having mastered both upper extremity rehabilitation as well as spine and lower extremity physical therapy for the orthopedic population. His resume boasts completion of extensive continuing education courses over a 25 year period, from the many of the top leaders in the field.
