Drinking Water: Why Does It Matter?

Why does drinking “enough” water every day matter?

Drinking water is essential for maintaining good health, yet many people don’t drink enough of it.

Did you know that the human body is made up of around 60% water? It is essential for the proper functioning of all of our organs, including the brain, heart, and kidneys.

One of the most important reasons to drink water is to prevent dehydration. Symptoms of dehydration include thirst, dry mouth, fatigue, and headaches. In severe cases, dehydration can lead to serious health issues such as kidney failure and heatstroke.

3 Key Reasons to drink enough water:

  1. Digestion
    1. Water helps to flush toxins out of the body and keep the colon functioning properly (i.e. prevents constipation!)
  2. Weight Loss
    1. When you drink water before a meal, it can help to fill you up, making you less likely to overeat
    2. Boosts your metabolism, which can help to burn more calories
  3. Skin & Anti-Aging
    1. Drinking water also works to hydrate your skin, giving it a healthy and youthful appearance
    2. It can also help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging. That’s a no brainer РSign me up!

The recommended daily intake of water is around eight 8-ounce glasses, or about 2 liters.

**However, the amount of water you need to drink will vary depending on your activity level, the climate, and your overall health**
